Dragon's of the Valley - Book Review

Book review by my Husband :) on "Dragon's of The Valley"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"So this is my wife's blog, I just don't have the time to keep up with my own blog for now. But I am reviewing a book I read so feel free to read the review and give the book a chance if you'd like.
I'm really into fantasy novels so this book caught my attention. Usually the books I read have a lot more action, so this book was a small letdown in that area, but you can definitely see a ton of beauty in the world of the story. The character development seemed a little rushed, but for the pace the book was setting, that was unavoidable. I would have liked for the book to be maybe another 200 pages or so, that way we can see more of the training that Bealomondore went through in order to fight the Grawl. Carrying on that note, the last fight between the Grawl and Bealomondore was too one sided, considering their previous matchup. It was a little boring to see the Grawl be in that position after the book pumping him up to be the strongest person in the book after Fenworth and maybe Paladin. Actually I would have rather seen Paladin fight The Grawl instead of Bealomondore.
But, despite these shortcomings, I did have a few favorite characters. Wizard Fenworth, Lady Peg, and Verrin Schoppe, and The Grawl made the book for me. Fenworth was funny and his cooky spells and attitude were awesome. Verrin Schoppe was a good character also; he has a good handle on spells and great ideas, but only in his dealings and patience with Lady Peg did his real personality show. Peg's handle on language and situations was hilarious. Her art of thoroughly confusing people is something that I wish I could learn. The Grawl was the only real villain in the story in my opinion. He was strong and strategic and it was a shame that his ending was anti-climactic. Paladin is a good character, but they don't explain enough about him for me to really get to know him.
The central underlying focus of the story is the belief and spreading of the knowledge of Wulder. It was interesting to see the ties to the bible and reliance on faith to make the impossible happen in extreme odds. It is a good take away story.
All in all, it's an ok book. A good read for teenagers who are into fantasy. If you are wanting more action, this book probably isn't the best one for you."
God Gave Us The World - Book Review
   God Gave Us The World is a children's book written by Lisa Tawn Bergen who, in my opinion, did a wonderful job. I don't find many books made for children, that write about God, and differences all in one. The story of the book explains how God gave us the world and everything in it, as a wonderful gift for us to take care of and treat with love and respect.There are several different areas in the world, with different people and different lifestyles, and God wants us to love each and every one. Different types of bears were used, in metaphor, to show the children that in God's world, there are several different skin colors, environments, food, ect. because God is a very creative person and wanted the world to be fun and exciting, not boring where everything is the same. He gave us differences to make the world a happier place!
   I think this book is very good to help children understand that just because someone may look different then them, doesn't mean they can't be nice to them and be friends. I would recommend it to any parent!! In fact, I think all children should be started young on books like these, so children can be taught at a young age to treat every one with respect and equality.
   I am glad my son enjoyed this book...he is anxious for more :) The God Gave Us Christmas one especially :)
The Dragon And The Turtle - Book Review
   The Dragon And The Turtle Go On Safari is a book written for children that is suppose to teach them courage and to not be afraid...to lift up each other as friends would do. Getting this book, I expected it to be exciting and a good read for kids to be entertained. I read it to my three year old son and even he, did not seem to enjoy it as well. My son can sit through book after book because he just loves to be read to, but this book started losing his attention half way through. I felt the story did not have very much excitement or really, any much of a plot... The point to get across to children is to be courageous...I wouldn't have gotten that if it wasn't for the end run through. I do however, like that they posted a Bible verse at the end of the book, and the illustrations are just adorable. I wished the authors would have made the book a little more "Cutesy" and easier for children to understand. The greatest part was that my son kept thinking that,
Roger, the turtle, was Franklin from PBS :)
Love And War Devotional for Couples {Book Review}
The chapters are short and sweet, but filled with good tips to keep in your pocket. They say that "Without you, your spouse will not become the man or the woman that God intends and the kingdom of God will not advance as it is meant to advance." What do you think about this? The reading will help bring marriage into a whole new perspective and allow you to think in different ways than you might not have done before. There are bits of humor throughout as well, for example, they say, "God gave you your spouse to smooth your rough edges."  ...
You can accept that how you like :)
   Here are some Bible verses they leave you with to look up:
  • John 10:10 ~Satan tries all he can do to steal your joy.
  • James 4:7 ~But you have to resist him!
  • Luke 10:!9 ~God has given us the authority to overcome the enemy!
  • 1 John 3:18 "Let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth."
OWN from SheSpeaks.com
   SheSpeaks.com invited me to preview the exclusive episode of "Your OWN Show" Which is where Oprah is searching for the next big TV Star.
   I didn't find it to be very interesting. Although I am curious who will be voted off, I just don't see myself continuing with the show. I think Oprah opening up the opportunity for some one else to experience their "talk show host" dream is amazing for her to do, but I hope they all choose wisely in who will take that place.    The way the group "Team Vision" worked together was awful. Elizabeth tried to pretty much overtake the whole group, trying to settle for her ideas and thoughts about it and I think that is why their team failed. "Team Focus" on the other hand, they were definitely better and more put together. Each person's were included and they most definitely seemed more professional. Ryan, however, did seem a little bit nervous when he was interviewing Dr. Phil, but I could imagine so, as Dr. Phil is pretty intimidating. I think it's wonderful that they are giving, Zach, the man with cerebral palsy, a chance to own his own show. Too many people are quick to judge when it comes to publicity. I feel like Alicia would be a great talk show host because she has good social skills and her energy reels you in. But only time will tell to see who makes it as the next big star so I wish them luck!
