Dr. Suess Storytime!

Today, all Target stores held a story time session on Dr. Seuss. We took our son to it and he enjoyed sitting in the circle of kids, getting to listen to the employers, dressed in their Dr. Seuss items, reading the Dr. Seuss books! Each child was given a fun goody bag too! The goody bag's were filled with special treats including: An apple juice juice-box, fruit snacks, chickadee crackers, a Target napkin, stickers, a coloring book, crayons, coupons, and trivia bookmarks. It was an enjoyable time for my son, getting to listen to stories and interact socially. Made a good impression on him because while walking away from it, he says "Mama can we maybe go to one of these again sometime??" :) And I of course said, yes. :)

Don't forget...Dr. Seuss' Birthday is March 2nd!!

Chuck E Cheese Deals!

Today my son and hubby are going to have a "daddy son day" and they are going to spend their time at Chuck E Cheese! What a fun place for kids! I researched and found some pretty good deals. I first, signed up with their website here and they sent me 4 different coupons, to receive packets of drink, pizza and tokens at a good price! Then I found they have reward calendars to print out and let your child earn 10 free tokens if they do something good for 2 weeks. You can also print out their Valentine cards (expires 3/2/11) and use one for one child, receiving 5 more free tokens! And lastly, here is the Ticket Blaster! An online game that gives you the chance to earn 30 free tickets! Just print out your reward when finished and take it to Chuck E Cheese with you. So if Chuck E Cheese is in your near future..I would suggest you check out these deals :-)
And have fun!!

Dragon (Padraig) Cake Contest!

As I mentioned below, in my review on the book, "The Dragon & The Turtle Go On Safari" there was a contest to enter...(which the dead line has passed) But now there is a new contest going on that I recently found! The deadline for that is February 28th, 2011 and it is a cake contest! You can find the contest entry page and info here. I made our own little Padraig cake and here is what ours turned out like :)

The Charlatan's Boy - Book Review

A fiction fantasy novel, "The Charlatan's Boy" written by Jonathan Rogers is full of all kinds of ups and downs! This book wasn't one I was originally interested in, but received by accident and decided I would go ahead and read it. I will admit, it was a bit boring in the beginning for me because I am not very in to fictional fantasy type books, but I am glad I read it. It was a story about a boy named Grady, known as a "Feechie" who claimed to be one of the ugliest boys alive. He lived with a man named Floyd who was all the family he'd ever known. They together, put on acts of the Feechie, trying to make a living, convincing others to believe in it. Grady always wished he could find his real family, always on the look out for someone who was ugly as he was; And Floyd wasn't very respectful to him...Seeming to only use him for his own benefits. This book is full of 'roller coaster rides' leaving you wanting to know what happens next. It has a spectacular ending that I won't give away, so you need to read it to find out :)

God Loves Me More Than That - Book Review

Another children's story, "God Loves Me More Than That" is a short book using metaphors to explain how much God really does love us. I don't have a whole lot to blog about on this book because of how short it is, but I do have to say, the illustrations, by David Hohn, are adorable! My favorite would be the picture he drew of the hippos dancing in the rain. Every photo on each page shows how much fun it is to be a kid, and imagine up all kinds of different silliness. I found it a little odd, that, the author, Dandi Daley Mackall, switched from saying 'God' to 'Lord' on every other page..I wish she would have just left it all to be 'God' hence, the book is titled with the word 'God' lol. But all together, it is a cute book. Very short, but the illustrations make up for it :)
