DIY Hot Cocoa Mix+Recipe

Have you ever realized that a lot of homemade hot cocoa recipes require powdered milk?? I realized this today when my freezing cold son wanted a warm drink (hot cocoa being his favorite) and I was out of the store bought hot cocoa we bought in bulk for the winter so I got on google to find a recipe that consisted of ingredients I had on hand. I came across Martha Stewart's recipe and found it's super easy and only requires 3 ingredients.

  • 3 1/2 Cups of Sugar
  • 2 1/4 Cups of Cocoa Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon of Salt

I cut the above recipe in half because I didn't need to make a ton of it since Spring is just around the corner.  So you mix all of this into a container and stir well til ingredients are combined. It looks just like hot cocoa powder!

You then microwave a cup milk/water (or straight milk depending on what you like. I did half water half whole milk) and microwave for 2 minutes. Mix two spoons of the hot cocoa powder into your liquid and enjoy!!! Sooo good and such a rich chocolate taste. Much better then store bought. For added yum, I dribbled in a lil of Torani's Peppermint Syrup. Delicious!

Keep your powder in an airtight container and enjoy as you please!
