Enjoying the Many Kroger Family Brand Foods

As a member of Bzzagent, I received and amazing package of Kroger family brand foods to review. Some of the brands, people have never heard of or even thought about trying! But they're missing out and some of the most delicious and affordable options out there.

Private Selections, Psst..., and Simple Truth just to name a few... Each of these brands carry a different variety of foods to choose from, all at great quality and excellent prices.

In my Bzzagent Box, I received several free coupons to purchase as well as Private Selections Breakfast Blend coffee, Kroger Tomatillo Lime tortillas, Psst... Brownie Mix, and Simple Truth organic banana chips, along with coupons to share with family and friends.

The first thing we tried were the banana chips! These were amazing. They brought me back to my childhood when I would munch on banana chips and raisins for snack. They taste just as good as I remember, except these ones are made with organic bananas and coconut oil, making them that much better for you!
We had tacos for dinner one night, using the Kroger Tomatillo Lime tortillas, a flavor I never new existed in tortillas! These were interesting! The lime made them taste sweet, like they should be used in a dessert. Next time I purchase them, I will try to make elephant ears with them. I think that would be delicious! Fry up the tortillas in butter, and sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon across them. Sounds divine.... Since we used the tortillas for tacos, I used my Pineapple Salsa with them, and the combination was the perfect amount of tropical tasting tacos I've ever had. Really really good! My husband and son didn't like these tortillas much, so next time around I purchased Krogers Nacho Cheese hard shelled tacos. These were a big hit in taco making, other then them breaking easily, so we used them to make a taco salad instead. Still wonderful.

For breakfast, I brewed me a cup of Private Selections Breakfast Blend Coffee. Its bright and nutty blend was really light tasting. A more mild coffee that wasn't really my favorite but I love the fact that their beans are hand selected from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms in Latin America.
And with that coffee, I made Private Selections Center Cut Bacon. Oh.My.Goodness. Best tasting bacon we have ever had, not even kidding. Even my husband said "these are literally the most perfectly cooked, best tasting bacon ever!" I cooked the bacon in the oven at 375 degrees until they were crisp, and we devoured them for breakfast, with enough to set aside for leftovers. We also purchased Private Selections Applewood Smoked Bacon using a $1 off coupon, to eat with dinner one night, on our Heritage Farm ground beef patties I purchased. The Applewood bacon was a thicker cut, but cooked just as well in the oven. Its smokey flavor was good, but not as good as the center cut :)
Still though, hands down the best bacon. ever.
On a special day, me and my son made Psst...'s Brownie Mix and we of course loved these! They were easy to make and came out perfectly delicious! I like that their recipe on the back gives you the option to make regular brownies, cake like brownies, or brownie cookies.

The HemisFares pasta, are Italian made noodles ready to prepare. I used my free coupon to review the Orecchiette Little Ear Shaped Pasta. These pasta shapes were inspired by the roofs of ancient Apulian houses, called trulli. What a fun fact! The noddles weren't as good as I expected them to be... but they ended up tasting great in my homemade pasta casserole.
It was a lot of fun trying all of these foods. I will continue purchasing the many Kroger family brand foods as I have found gems in each and every one. Go to your nearest Kroger store and check out all their options. They're not only delicious. but more affordable too!

This post was made possible by Bzzagent in providing me the items to review. All opinions my own.
