A Dance in Donegal - Book Review

A Dance in Donegal by Jennifer Drivel is a novel set in the 1920's, about a girl named Moira, who promised her late mother, that she would take a teaching job in a small village in Donegal, Ireland, where her mother once lived. Upon Moira arriving to the village, she didn't get a welcome acceptance, leaving her to wonder what was the cause of this. She became the teacher as agreed to, with her heart set on helping the children of the small town. After just a short time, she grew close with a small amount of dwellers, while others treated her unfairly, whispering nonsense behind her back. Moira wondered why God lead her to this place, when she felt so unwanted there. A handful of things happened to her and her surroundings, but she remained strong and in the end, she could see just why she was meant to be where she was taken.

When I first started reading this book, I was afraid I wasn't going to like it, because it started out slow and confusing. But I am so glad I pressed on and read the entire story. It was so good! Each character was so enjoyable to follow along with, and gave me a sense of being right there in the Ballymann Village, with Moira. I loved reading pieces with the Irish dialect and learning how they celebrate in different ways. This was such a comforting story to read, filled with mystery, compassion, and romance. I recommend this book for a nice winter afternoon so you can cozy up and breathe in the warmth of this story.

Checking Temps with the Boncare Thermometer

Disclaimer: I received the following product(s) in exchange for my review. All opinions my own.

It's especially good to have a thermometer on hand during these times. We have seasonal sickness and a pandemic, so being able to check your temperature is important. The Boncare Thermometer is perfect for this, because you can easily and quickly test your temp, with just a scan of the forehead. Supposedly you can check temp in the ear too, but mine did not come with that. I love how easy this is to use, and now I can check temps any time I need to!

For a limited time, you can purchase the Boncare Thermometer on Amazon and get 30% with the promo code: LIYACAO11

Daily Goodie Box - February 2021

Disclaimer: I received the following product(s) in exchange for my review. All opinions my own.

I received a February Goodie Box, filled with fun and unique items to try. Snacks, Health, and Moisturized Skin are a few of this boxes goodies.

Know Brainer Foods - Burnt Caramel Max Mallows - these marshmallows were interesting to say the least. They didn't really taste like burnt caramel to me... More just like a marshmallow with a hint of something sweet. I like their square shape, and think they would be perfect for making smores! Would love to try other flavors.

Interstate Bait - Big Game Brisket Sunflower Seeds - I am not a big fan of sunflower seeds, unless they are already de-shelled, but I can see how others would like to munch on these. They didn't taste like brisket, but did have a nice salty flavor, that I would love to see on de-shelled seeds, made for easier snacking :)

2by4 - Liposomal Vitamin C - Made to keep your immune system up and supplement you with the Vitamin C you've been missing out on; this liquid should be added to water for a Vitamin C filled drink. It is a milky brown colored liquid that has a sweet taste. It's a very interesting idea, but I think I'd rather get my Vitamin C from a gummy vitamin or just by eating oranges :)

Pretzel Pete - Whole Wheat Mini Twists - Not much to say about these pretzels... They tasted like unsalted pretzels but they were really hard to eat. They did, however, make me want bready pretzels to dip in cheese haha.

Real Chemistry - Environmental Rescue Daily Serum - This Serum has an interesting smokey scent to it. It rubs into my skin well, but leaves a really sticky after effect. Thankfully the stickiness disappears once I put on moisturizer, and my skin feels healthy.

Brami - Italian Snacking Lupini Beans - These beans look and taste a lot like Lima Beans, in my opinion. They had a nice flavor, but the texture was a bit weird for me. Maybe if they were softer or had an airy crunch, I would've liked them better. But they make an interesting afternoon snack!

Zollipops - Zolli Gummez - I love that these gummies are healthier than others and said to "clean" the teeth while eating them. The texture is good with a soft chew, and the bag had 3 different flavors. The orange flavor was the best! The green was ok, and the pink tasted like toothpaste lol. Overall, I think they're fun to try and might be worth replacing other candy with, as they're better on you and your lil ones teeth!

ShiKai CBD Body Lotion - A nice lotion for everyday use. Moisturizes my skin and doesn't have a bad scent. The small size makes it perfect to take with you on the go, or keep in your car for when you need a little moisturizing.

I have enjoyed another month of Goodie Box and look forward to more in the future!

At Home Nails With The Siapris Dipping Powder Nail Kit

Disclaimer: I received the following product(s) in exchange for my review. All opinions my own

Doing your nails at home will not only save you money, but also allow yourself to mix and match different styles, as often as you want to!

I recently had the chance to test out the Siapris Dipping Powder Nail Kit and wow was that an experience! I will start off saying, I had SUCH a hard time using this product without it being extremely messy lol. I don't know why I went into it thinking it would be easy, but the process was tedious and terribly messy. I followed the steps, filing and buffering my nails, applying the base, then the powder... That's when it got gross. Using the brush to wipe off the excess powder that was atop the sticky/undry base just caused all kinds of problems. It left my finger nails clumpy. In the end, the color was really nice but the clumpy mess was unappealing. It also didn't last 2-3 weeks, maybe only 3 days, before it started flaking off. Thankfully the polish comes off in chunks, pretty easily without need of remover. I will try this again, now that I know what to expect, and hope for a better outcome. Definitely a learning curve!

You can find the Siapris Dipping Powder Nail Kit available on Amazon, and it includes everything you are above: Dip powder, Base coat, Top coat, Sealer dry, Brush saver, File block, and Dust brush.

Network of Deceit - Book Review

Disclaimer: I received the following product(s) in exchange for my review. All opinions my own.

Network of Deceit by Tom Threadgill is a suspense novel about a Detective named Amara Alvarez who is working on a big case in the Homicide Division. The story unfolds on the death of a teenage boy, found in the floating along the river in a local water park. Due to things seeming suspicious, Detective Amara begins her investigation on the case, all the while being anonymously toyed with on her own safety. When she realizes she's dealing with cyber criminals, the pieces start to pile up and eventually the entire Puzzle becomes clear. Will Detective Amara figure out who is the murderer? You have to read and find out! :)

I enjoyed reading Network of Deceit because it was a different mysterious story than I usually read. I wasn't expecting the plot line or the outcome to work as it did, butt I was pleasantly surprised how enjoyable it was. Following Detective Amara on her process of the investigation was exciting and made me want to get in there and investigate too. I love detective stories and the mystery that comes with each. This was a great read and I recommend it to those that also enjoy thrilling detective work!

You can find Network of Deceit available for purchase on Amazon in Paperback, Hardback, Audiobook, and Kindle.

Super Bowl 2021

Super Bowl 2021. A time of Family, Food, and Football, though I'm always in it for the commercials 😉 This year felt like it was lacking, but I know everyone worked hard to make it all happen. I think my favorite commercials were the adorable Huggies, because cute babies, and the Cheetos "It Wasn't Me", because I liked the song by Shaggy. What were your favorites?

I made a lil party spread of food for the family, and my Fruity Pebble Crispy Treats as well. It was a fun time snacking on foods, watching the Bowl and following along on Twitter for some awesome giveaways!
