Red Leaf's: Caramel Matcha Tea Review

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

Red Leafs Caramel Matcha is a tea blend of matcha (green tea) and caramel flavor, making a tea that is sweet enough to not need sugar added to it, yet tastes good enough to have as a stand-alone tea without having a biscuit or snack on the side. It is said to have a light, buoyant, and lingering taste that is sure to please.

The first thing I noticed when I opened the Caramel Matcha Tea powder, is though it smelt wonderful, the caramel scent overpowers the scent of the matcha. Because of this, it made me wonder if I would only taste caramel, but that wasn't the case. I first made the recommended Iced Caramel Matcha by adding 8oz of milk, a few ice cubes, and the 1/2 tsp. of Caramel Matcha to my blender. It came out really plain tasting. I couldn't even taste the Matcha or that strong smelling caramel! I was shocked, since its smell is so potent. I ended up adding in a frozen banana, a spoon of peanut butter, vanilla yogurt, and some cocoa to make it a delicious smoothie drink.

Then next day, I tried Caramel Matcha warm. This was better tasting, but the hot water didn't dissolve the matcha powder very well, so the drink had a powdery consistency. It wasn't until after, that I read on Red Leaf's site, that it recommends sifting the tea before adding it to the water, to prevent clumping, and I assume, the excess powder. I shared the Carmel Matcha with my mom, who loves Green Tea, and she said it's delicious! So it's really to each there own. It's not a bad tea,
but a taste one must get use to, I suppose.

*Caramel Matcha is made with 100% pure matcha. It does not contain any food coloring, artificial sweeteners,
